Erasmus Universitair Medisch Centrum
The Erasmus MC is the largest university medical centre in the Netherlands and is internationally well known for patient related research. The Erasmus MC PICU is one of the largest units in Western Europe with a catch area of 4 million inhabitants and is a national referral centre for paediatric ECMO. This is the last resort treatment in case of severe cardiac or pulmonary failure. The Department of Immunology with a large clinical and research facility is a referral centre for diagnostics for primary immunodeficiencies for Europe. Both departments have long lasting collaborations locally, nationally and internationally.
